May 03, 2018 by Andrew

Apply among multiple AmeriCorps positions through the Conservation Trust for North Carolina! The program seeks to reconnect people with the outdoors and to develop future leaders in conservation. CTNC AmeriCorps members will develop service projects that help remove barriers to environmental education throughout North Carolina, as well as help expand the diversity of backgrounds among conservation leaders in the state. The 10-month program runs from September 3rd, 2018 through June 30th, 2019. The deadline to apply is June 18th.

A living stipend of $13,732, health insurance, childcare assistance, and monthly professional development opportunities are included as well as enrollment in the NC Environmental Education Certificate program, free of charge to any member wishing to enroll, along with a small stipend for attending NCEE Workshops.

Participants who complete the program requirements (1700 service hours, satisfactory work, and completing the length of the term) will receive an education award of $5,920. Applicants should be able to commit to the entire 10-month program year, which runs from September 3rd 2018 through June 30th, 2019.

CTNC AmeriCorps has four goals:

1. Make environmental education more accessible to diverse audiences
2. Provide tools for people from diverse backgrounds to become future leaders in conservation
3. Build bridges between conservation groups and communities
4. Connect more North Carolinians to the outdoors

The program is based across the state at 17 host sites for 18 open positions. Applicants must apply for each position individually based on their preference of service and position. Each one of the host sites offer different aspects to engaging North Carolina citizens in environmental education, conservation, and volunteerism. It is required to be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States, be 17 years or older, and consent to a three-step criminal history process.  For more information about enrollment, visit the AmeriCorps Application Portal.
