Recognizing amazing teachers (and students!) for all they do for our planet
Every year the Chesapeake Bay Trust runs an awards program to recognize teachers and students who are going above and beyond the call of duty for our local environment. With individuals in our school systems being pulled in so many different directions each day, it is important to recognize talented people who volunteer for projects and programs that clean up communities and improve water quality. That’s why the Trust launched its awards program, and since 1998, has been thanking teachers and students (with cash!) every year since for all their hard work to help restore the Chesapeake Bay.
The Chesapeake Bay Trust, a nonprofit grantmaking organization dedicated to environmental education and restoration work, recognizes two students and one teacher from Maryland each year who have shown a strong commitment to their local environment and the Chesapeake Bay. The winning students are honored with a $5,000 college scholarship and the winning teacher is given a $2,500 grant award to support environmental education work at his or her school. The winners will be formally announced at the Trust’s Legislative Reception at the Maryland State House on January 14, 2016. Applicants can be self-nominated or nominated by individuals and the deadline to apply is December 4, 2015 at 5:00 pm.
